Almost everyone loves rain..!! After all the summer heat, it’s the time of the year when you can sit and enjoy the rain along with a cup of hot tea or coffee.
What makes your evening tea even more interesting are the snacks you serve with them; pakodas, chakli or some store bought namkeen, everything tastes just yum..!!
But with all this, I thought of making something super quick and easy and which I could enjoy anytime and any day- Murmura & Peanut Namkeen. Its super-duper quick and its really tasty and crunchy. During the cool breeze and rain, you could simply sit with your loved ones and enjoy the weather rather than standing in the kitchen for a long time (though I wouldn’t mind that either.. 😉 )
It will just take 5 mins to make this.
Let’s just quickly see what we need so that you all could make it too..

All You Need:
- Murmura- 4 Cups
- Peanuts- ¾ Cup
- Chana (with the skin)- ¾ Cup
- Curry Leaves- 10 to 12 leaves
- Amchoor- ¾ tsp
- Hing (Asafoetida )- a ping
- Jeera (Cumin Seeds)- 1 tsp
- Salt- 1 ¼ tsp or to taste
- Whole Kali Mirch (Whole Black Pepper)- 15
- Red Chilli Powder- ½ tsp
- Oil- 2 to 3 tsp
A Few Tips:
- Always roast the murmura on low-medium flame and keep stirring as it can burn easily.
- You can use only peanuts or only roasted chana. It’s not necessary to use both.
- I like to use a small electric grinder to grind and mix all the spices. Using a grinder not only grinds all the whole spices but also mixes everything properly, so it’s an easy & quick way. J

Method:
- In a small grinder, add all the spices (Amchoor, Salt, Whole Black Pepper, Jeera and Red Chilli Powder). Grind it and keep it aside.
- In a kadhai, add 1 tsp oil. Roast the peanuts. Once they will start crackling and change their color a little, remove them on a tissue paper so that all the excess oil is absorbed.
- Now in the same kadhai, add little more oil and roast the chana. Once done, remove them on the tissue paper.
- Turn the flame to low-medium. Add the remaining oil in the kadhai. Add the curry leaves.
- Now add the murmura and roast them for 2 to 3 mins.
- Mix in the roasted peanuts and chana.
- Add all the ground spices and mix well.
- Roast for another 2 mins.
- Turn off the stove. Remove the namkeen in bowl and let it cool down.
It’s done. Just took 5 mins..!!
Store it in an air tight container and enjoy it whenever you want. Serve it to guests, I’m sure they will love it too..!! J
