I am sure you all would have tasted those Karachi Biscuits in the market. Those are super yummy and taste great with your evening tea.

But did you know that these are super simple to make at home? YES..!! They can so easily be made at home. Effortless biscuits.

You should definitely try these.

So, let’s see what all we need.

Preparation Time: 10 mins        Baking Time: 20 mins        Serves: 35 pieces

All You Need:

  1. All-Purpose Flour (Maida)- 1 ½ Cups + ¼ Cup
  2. Powdered Sugar- 1 ½ Cups
  3. Milk Powder- ¼ Cup
  4. Baking Powder- 1 tsp
  5. Butter- ½ Cup (at room temperature)
  6. Tutti Frutti- ½ Cup
  7. Cashews & Pistachios (Chopped into Small Pieces)- ¼ Cup
  8. Rose Essence- 2 tsp
  9. Milk- 4 tbsp

A Few Tips:

  • THE BEST TIP- if you took out your cookies too soon and are still soft, you can re bake them. Bake them for 2 mins – 5 mins. You can re bake them even after days.
  • I make the dough at night, wrap it up in plastic wrap in round logs shape and refrigerate overnight, but 2 hours is a good time.
  • I am using milk powder and ¼ cup all-purpose flour in place of custard powder. You can also use ½ cup custard powder.
  • Add milk, 1 tbsp at a time. Don’t let the dough become too soft.
  • You can also reduce the amount of tutti frutti according to your taste.
  • You can also adjust the amount of powdered sugar as per your taste.

Method:

  • Sift together All-Purpose flour, baking powder and milk powder.
  • Add the tutti-frutti, cashews and pistachios to the sifted dry mixture. Tutti-Frutti is very sticky, so make sure that all the pieces are separated.
  • In a separate bowl, add the butter and using a spatula, make the butter fluffy.
  • Add the powdered sugar to the butter and mix well.
  • Add the dry mixture to the butter mixture and mix well.
  • Add 1 tbsp of milk at a time. The dough should not be too soft. (You might need only 4 tbsp milk but if the dough still seems to be too dry, add an extra 1/2 tbsp of milk.)
  • Once the dough is ready, separate the dough in two parts and make round logs.
  • Wrap the logs in plastic wrap.
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  • After 2 hours, preheat the oven at 350° F.
  • Cut the logs into thin slices. Don’t cut the slices too thick. They will not become crispy.
  • Bake the biscuits for 15-20 mins or until the edges become golden brown.
  • Cool the biscuits on a cooling rack.
  • Store these biscuits in an air tight container.
  • These stay good for at least 1 month.
  • These biscuits taste even better than the store bought ones.
  • Do try these biscuits. I’m super happy and proud after making these.
